LPNs

Advance your professional credentials as you deepen your nursing experience. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) have a special opportunity to accelerate their associate degree in nursing and become an RN through St. Vincent’s College’s LPN-RN bridge program. The program requires an online bridge course, a transition course, and an additional two semesters of full-time study at SVC.

The LPN-RN bridge program is offered in the spring semester only. If you are interested in beginning your studies in the fall semester, consider applying to the Nursing program and transferring eligible credits.

Admission Criteria

The Admissions Committee reviews applications holistically, taking into account each student’s personal situation and demonstrated potential for success. The application review includes an analysis of academic preparation, including high school and college transcripts, coursework rigor and selected grades in Math and Science, as well as life experiences such as professional skills training and military experience.

  • General Psychology with a minimum grade of C
  • Lifespan Development Psychology with a minimum grade of C
  • Introduction to Sociology with a minimum grade of C
  • English Composition and Literature with a minimum grade of C+
  • Anatomy and Physiology I and II with a minimum grade of B-
  • Microbiology with a minimum grade of B-
  • Math for Health Sciences (must be taken at SVC)

TEAS Score

Nursing students must pass the TEAS Test before beginning Nursing 101. A passing score is: Adjusted individual total score of 60% or higher within the last 3 years; no more than 2 attempts are permitted per year.

To apply for the LPN-RN Bridge program, the following application materials are required:

  • Online application
  • $25 application fee
  • Official transcripts showing prerequisite courses (see Admission Criteria)
  • Official transcript from the practical nurse education program
  • A copy of current LPN license
  • TEAS VI Test results (see above)
  • Information Session with Admissions

More Information

Admitted students must complete a health clearance, as well as pass a criminal background check and drug screen, in order to register for classes. Instructions on completing this clearance are provided upon receipt of the enrollment deposit.
