First-Time College Students

Whether you are a high school senior or graduated from high school years ago, you have multiple options for advancing your education with Sacred Heart University’s St. Vincent’s College. Each of our healthcare programs is designed to prepare you for an exciting career in less time and at lower cost than traditional, four-year college programs. If you plan to further your education with a bachelor’s degree in the future, a Sacred Heart University associate degree will give you advanced placement in many programs.

Admission Criteria

The Admissions Committee reviews applications holistically, giving applicants the opportunity to demonstrate their potential for success. The application review includes an analysis of academic preparation, including high school transcript, coursework rigor and selected grades in Math and Science, as well as life experiences such as professional skills training and military experience. General criteria for admission include:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.75
  • GED, or high school diploma including:
  • 3+ years of high school Math, including 2 years of Algebra and 1 year of Geometry; minimum grade of C+
  • 1 year of high school Chemistry; minimum grade of C+
  • 1 year of high school Biology; minimum grade of C+

Application Deadlines

Spring Application Deadline: November 1

Fall Application Deadline (Priority): May 1

Applications submitted after the priority deadline will be considered on a rolling basis.

More Information

Admitted students must complete a health clearance, as well as pass a background check and drug screen, in order to register for classes. Instructions on completing this clearance are provided upon receipt of the enrollment deposit.

Nursing students must pass the TEAS Test before enrolling in Nursing 101, typically in the second year of study. A passing score is: Adjusted individual total score of 60% or higher within the last 3 years; no more than 2 attempts are permitted per year.
