Writing Support

Writing is an important skill for all college level learners. Even the best writers will have their work reviewed! All St. Vincent’s College at Sacred Heart University students have complementary access to support with any writing assignment. Expert writing advice on academic assignments is available through the Online Writing Lab (OWL).

How to Use OWL

Papers submitted online will be reviewed within 24 to 48 hours by a professional writing tutor. General feedback will be returned to the student to help develop the paper further. It is convenient for many students seeking support with writing, who find it difficult to meet with someone in person.

When you click on the Online Writing Lab (OWL) link, you will be brought to the Sacred Heart Jandrisevits Learning Center Website. The OWL service is coordinated through this office.

How to Get In-Person Help

SVC at SHU students can also schedule a one-on-one session to start or review a writing assignment. If you would like to meet with a tutor in person to discuss a writing assignment, drop by or make an appointment in the Jandrisevits Learning Center (JLC), which is located in the Shea Hamilton Student Success Center on SHU’s main campus. View campus map (the SHU Student Success Center is located in Building 28).
